Northern Gulf Coast - 2021 Regional Info Packet and Meals & Lodging Info

Hello Teams! Welcome to the 2021 Competition season!

I have a  few announcements for teams competing in our regional competition. 

1. Registration opened on March 1 for teams and will close on April 2. We are limited to the number of teams we can handle this year so be sure to register early if you want a spot!
2. The structure of the competition will be a little bit different this year. We are moving forward with a hybrid format, which will include in-person and virtual events. For more information on how this new format will work please read the attached 2021 NGC Regional Contest Information Doc. 

3. Dorm reservations will open on March 16 for registered teams. Attached is a document explaining how to reserve rooms for your team on campus.

4. Meals will also be available in our on-campus cafe for the weekend of the competition. Teams may reserve meals by following the instructions on the attached Meal & Lodging doc.

New $53 Million Grant to Create a World-Wide Fleet of Robotic Floats to Monitor Ocean Health

MOSS LANDING, CA - On October 29, 2020 the National Science Foundation (NSF) approved a $53 million grant to a consortium of the country’s top ocean-research institutions to build a global network of chemical and biological sensors that will monitor ocean health. Scientists at the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute (MBARI), University of Washington, Scripps Institution of Oceanography at UC San Diego, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, and Princeton University will use this grant to build and deploy 500 robotic ocean-monitoring floats around the globe.
