What were the other options for your team’s name?  If there was only ever the one option for your name, what is the origin of your team’s name?

Our team's inspiration name came from our lead mentor Mr. Bodmer's love for Hawaii's "Honu" or green sea turtles! We felt that the sea turtles are an excellent natural representation of ROVs.

What word/phrase is most often heard when your team is working on your ROV?

"Who's working on this?" or "MATE is life"

Which job or thing your team has to do is the hardest? Why?

Finalizing the ROV design. We always have a difficult time making the final decision when it comes to our ROVs goals for the competition season!

What is your team's go-to snack food(s)?

Cupcakes or Popcorn

What was the most celebrated/happiest/best/epic moment of success making your ROV?

Following up on the previous question about what is the hardest job for our team, our happiest moment is when we lock in our ROV design! It's like a large weight has been lifted and we can move forward full steam ahead with the manufacturing of our ROV!

What was your most memorable challenge/complete fail in building your ROV?

Our most epic fail was when we didn't insert our vent plug on ROV in the weeks leading up to the 2019 MATE International Competition. Rather than using that time to give our product demonstration team extra pool time, we had to rebuild our electrical system before we headed out to Tennessee!!! PSA for today is always use your pre-flight checklists!!!

What "theme" – the scientific or physical problem to be addressed with an ROV task – would you most like to see included in future competition missions?

Our team is heavily focused on improving the health of our oceans so any themes tied into ocean plastics, global warming and caring for the ocean's amazing marine life would be our hope for future competitions!!!

What innovation do you think would completely change how ROVs solve problems in the future?

We hope that innovations with data transmission will occur so that our overall ROV performance will improve.

If you could swap ROVs with any team – past or present – what team would it be?

Jesuit High School Robotics! Our team loves them!

If your team had/has one, what is your team’s “theme song”?
