There are so many hard jobs to do in our field, staring from workplace building up to the moment that the vehicle dives deep in. However, maintaining stress of doing the final closure of the vehicle. These moments require the maximum concentration to make sure everything is in its place while maintaining all safety procedures. What was the most celebrated/happiest/best/epic moment of success making your ROV?
The moment we hear the salute from our thrusters is definitely one of the best moments our team can pass through. However. the best moment we lived when we saw our child "Hapi, the God of the Nile" performing so well after a long journey of designing, execution and development. most of our team cried at this moment.
What was your most memorable challenge/complete fail in building your ROV?
Throughout many challenges, ups and downs our team faced, the incident of discovering leakage in our manipulator's mechanically sealed enclosure was shocking. All tests, procedures and standards were followed in the design process, however, we discovered the source of the problem that was in the quality of the material and our manufacturing team came with a brilliant idea that not only solved the problem but modified the overall performance.
What "theme" – the scientific or physical problem to be addressed with an ROV task – would you most like to see included in future competition missions?
Before answering this question we would like to thank MATE and all partners who try to find solutions to problems our maritime nature is facing. We believe that we should focus now on finding methods to preserve the polar nature before its too late. Moreover. we must step all together with knowledge against the negative effect of the petroleum industry on our oceans.
What innovation do you think would completely change how ROVs solve problems in the future?
Using Artificial intelligence in such difficult environment will be revolutionary, we don't know where this technology is taking us. This technology will develop simultaneously the "AUVs", automated underwater vehicles that are developing with unexpected rate
If you could swap ROVs with any team – past or present – what team would it be?
Would anyone swap a child? We don't think so, "Hapi" will grow with us!
