MATE ROV Turkey 2022

Dear MATE ROVians  Finally, we will have a MATE ROV Turkey 2022 regional event as REMOTE event on Saturday  26 March 2022 where WINNERS of the regional event would be able to participate in the World MATE ROV 2022 event.

THIS YEAR WE WILL CONSIDER THE FIRST 2 WINNERS IN THE EXPLORER CLASS AND 1 WINNER IN THE RANGER CLASS.

This year only Ranger and Explorer classes are available in Turkey regional, however you should put in consideration that the regional event or the world event or both might be entirely cancelled because of COVID-19 safety reasons at any time.

During the REMOTE event, only 5 Team members (the Pilot and 4 team members) would be able to attend the evaluation process. For safety precautions, each one SHOULD wear a mask that cover his/her face during the evaluation process. Remember, that team’s advisor would not be able to participate or join that evaluation process. The evaluation process would be recorded, so be ready with a camera.   There would be 2 separate sessions for evaluation: Session1 Engineering & Communication: Each team will have up to 15 minutes

  • Technical reports and company spec sheets – submitted in advance.
  • Engineering presentations would be via Zoom.
  • Marketing displays - submitted in advanced as PDF or videos.

In general, score would be proportional to the above items in addition to some additional aspects such as block diagrams, CAD design, stress analysis simulation, CFD simulation, level of circuit diagram details and arrangement, user made code,  … etc.

Session2 Product Demonstrations and Safety Inspections: Each team will have up to 50 minutes in two sessions (for each trail, 15 minutes + up to 10 minutes safety inspection) (Timetable would be announced at most on Friday 25 March 2022). This year, product demonstration and safety inspection would be “remote” where witness and verification of the ROV function would be via Zoom platforms by the regional coordinator and/or an evaluation committee so be ready with a camera.

((((((((Explorer teams HAVE TO demonstrate their ROV in a pool, Ranger teams WILL NOT demonstrate their ROV in a pool)))))))

For Explorer Teams:

  • This year, Explorer teams are responsible for finding a swimming pool to demonstrate their robot.
  • This year, Explorer teams are responsible for implementing part or all of the game field where the team will show (a discount code will be given to you).

The following conditions apply so read them carefully:

  • Only the PILOT, Co-Pilot, 2 members and 1 camera-man would present in the demonstration area (diver should be outside the demonstration area).
  • FOR EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES, ONLY LIFE DEMONSTRATION WOULD BE ACCEPTABLE AND ANY VIDEO RECORDING FOR ROV OPERATION WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.
  • For safety aspects, the pool should be suitable for that purpose and fire distinguisher and basic medical aids kit should be available inside the pool (you will be asked to show them before start).
  • All members SHOULD wear safety glasses and safety gloves (waterproof) during the demonstration.
  • Evaluation will start by safety inspection and then continue to functional demonstration.
  • REMEMBER!!: FAILING IN THE SAFETY INSPECTION WILL NOT AUTHORIZE THE TEAM TO CONTINUE TO FUNCTIONAL DEMONSTRATION.
  • The Pilot should be ready with multi-meter to show some electrical readings inside and/or outside the ROV (currents and voltages)
  • The Pilot should be ready with metering tool to show the ROV dimensions.

For Ranger teams: This year, product demonstration and safety inspection would be OFF-SHORE (outside the water) where witness and verification of the ROV function would be via Zoom platforms by the regional coordinator and/or an evaluation committee (No swimming pool required). The following conditions apply so read them carefully:

  • Only the PILOT and Co-Pilot would be able to demonstrate the ROV functions and safety parameters.
  • FOR EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES, ONLY LIFE DEMONSTRATION WOULD BE ACCEPTABLE AND ANY VIDEO RECORDING FOR ROV OPERATION WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.
  • For safety aspects, demonstration room should be suitable for that purpose and fire distinguisher and basic medical aids kit should be available inside the room (you will be asked to show them before start).
  • The Pilot SHOULD wear safety glasses and safety gloves (waterproof) during the demonstration.
  • Evaluation will start by safety inspection and then continue to functional demonstration.
  • REMEMBER!!: FAILING IN THE SAFETY INSPECTION WILL NOT AUTHORIZE THE TEAM TO CONTINUE TO FUNCTIONAL DEMONSTRATION, and this year in Turkey regional event,  only ONE safety inspection is applicable.
  • The Pilot should be ready with multi-meter to show some electrical readings inside and/or outside the ROV (currents and voltages)
  • The Pilot should be ready with metering tool to show the ROV dimensions.
